Independent insurance brokerage signs agreement with Wawanesa
Assurances Multi-Risques welcomes 12,000 new clients from the Wawanesa distribution network to its customer base as of today. This makes it the largest independent broker in the Eastern Townships region, with some 18,000 clients. The Sherbrooke-based firm is one of 11 independent insurance brokers that have signed an agreement with Wawanesa, which is switching from direct distribution to brokerage in Quebec.
As a result, the Sherbrooke-based company will now have a presence in Granby, where Wawanesa’s offices were located, and will now serve its clientele. It will also take over the clients of several offices located in eastern Montreal. The Sherbrooke branch will be transferred to AMR’s offices on King Street West.
For Christopher Johnson, president and founder of the company, this agreement is a source of immense pride. “This transaction gives us an excellent springboard to become a major firm in the province and be an even stronger job creator in our region, while remaining true to our values, which means continuing to offer choice and impartiality to our clients. We are also very proud to welcome several new members from Wawanesa to our wonderful team,” said Mr. Johnson.
In fact, current insurance agents at the Sherbrooke, Granby, and East Montreal branches have already been offered the opportunity to become independent brokers with Assurances Multi-Risques. In business since 2007, the firm specializes in auto, home, business, and agricultural insurance and has employed around 20 property and casualty insurance professionals to date.
