The 43rd congress of the Regroupement des cabinets de courtage d’assurance du Québec was held last week. At Assurances Multi-Risques we are not only proud to be members of the RCCAQ, but we are also proud to be independent insurance brokers.
Do you really know what an independent insurance broker is? What exactly is the difference between an insurance agent and an insurance broker? Find out in the next paragraphs that give you short definitions of an insurance agent, an insurance broker who has a contractual agreement with an insurance company and an independent insurance broker.
Insurance agent
A liability insurance agent is a salaried insurance company representative, and can only offer the client that specific insurance company’s products.
Insurance broker who has a contractual agreement with an insurance company
Some insurance brokers have a contractual agreement with a specific insurance company and will generally offer this company’s products to their clients. The law requires that such insurance brokers inform their clients of their link with a specific insurance company.
Independent insurance broker
Independent insurance brokers have no contractual ties with insurance companies. They can therefore offer their clients products from any insurance company. Independent insurance brokers usually work more closely with their clients than other insurance representatives. They are true partners who strive to offer their clients the best products available, help them with their insurance claims, and defend their interests, whatever the circumstances.
At Assurances Multi-Risques, we are fully independent brokers, and we are very proud to offer impartial services to our clients. When we choose an insurance product, we make sure that it is in our client’s best interest. Since our brokers work closely with several insurance companies and are well acquainted with their products, Assurances Multi-Risques can offer its clients the best insurance deal for their money, whether it be home, auto or business insurance.
Who are the best people to see for insurance?
If you ask Assurances Multi-Risques, we will invariably tell you that you will be better served by an independent broker who has no business ties with insurance companies. This may not be true for all clients, since some may not care to enter into a personalized partnership with their insurance representative and will be perfectly happy with an insurance agent or a regular insurance broker’s services. If, however, working closely with your insurance broker is important to you, we suggest that you contact an independent broker, in fact, we suggest that you contact Assurances Multi-Risques!
